Quinta do Vale Meão
Vila Nova de Fôz Côa
Quinta do Vale Meão, in the Upper Douro near Vila Nova de Foz Côa, was created by Antónia Adelaide Ferreira — the Ferreirinha — a central figure in the history of Douro wine.
For decades the estate's grapes were sold to the house of A. A. Ferreira and went into its finest reds, including Barca Velha, whose first vintage was 1952.
Today the estate bottles under its own name and remains one of the reference points of the Upper Douro.
