Fraga do Puio Viewpoint

Fraga do Puio Viewpoint stands at Poiares, in the municipality of Freixo de Espada à Cinta, looking over the Douro Internacional Natural Park. The view opens onto the cliffs where the Douro runs hemmed between walls of schist and granite, on the stretch that forms the border with Spain — a landscape quite unlike the vine terraces of the wine Douro. It is one of the high points of the Douro Internacional viewpoint route, an area where raptors such as the griffon vulture and the golden eagle nest.
